Nathaniel Burrus House
955 Vanarsdall Rd., Harrodsburg, KY
Although it has experienced some minor changes and small additions in recent years, the Nathaniel Burrus house, built circa 1820, retains the basic form and most of the architectural details that make it an outstanding example of the Federal Greek Revival farmhouse in Central Kentucky. Nathaniel Burrus built this house in the latter part of his life as an outward manifestation of his economic status in the community. The house originally had a portico of classical design that was replaced with a modern porch that incorporated the square columns. Three dormer windows have also been added. At the time of the Register listing, the property included a brick tenant house and brick smokehouse. A child’s grave is also adjacent to the house.
